Object Follower

This project implemented a PID controller for a sumo robot object-follower. The sumorobot was designed to meet the Rowan Prof Bots sumo robot competition, and was implemented to have minimal overshoot, minimal steady-state error and a low settling-time. Ultimately, the sumo bot was able to follow a moving object at a fixed distance and account for turning, always stopping directly facing the object.

Coin Dispenser Safe - Optics Sensor Board

Engineering Intern at Ellenby Technologies in Woodbury Heights, NJ for Summer 2018.
● Developed electronics and firmware of a new Optical System to perform scanning of moving objects within a prototype electronic safe chassis.
● Extracted scanning data such that it is available on a PC for analysis.
● Evaluated scanning data using tools such as MATLAB to determine optimal scanning speed, light intensity, receiver gain, and board position.

Sumo-Robotic Competition

A event hosted by Rowan IEEE annually, in which each participating team (usually of 4) must push the opponent’s robot off the ring. Won First Place in the 2016 Kit Competition, and Third Place in 2016 Scratch Competition.
● Designed and built (using DipTrace) a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) that was used to support the MSP430 micro-controller to control the robot.
● Constructed and 3-D printed (using SolidWorks) the chassis and the shield of the robot.
● Contributed to implementing the code (in C) that decides the behaviors of the robot.
● Solved many problems, such as overweighing and malfunctioning. Worked efficiently as a passionate team member under pressure.

Audio Equalizer

Combine a second-order low-pass filter (LPF), a second-order high-pass filter (HPF), and a second-order bandpass filter (BPF) to create an equalizer (equalizers are hardware filters that adjust the amplitude of specific frequencies). This equalizer is used to modify an input music signal.

Underwater Remote Control Vehicle

The intent of this project was to design a prototype underwater remote operated vehicle (UROV) that wascapable of placing a cap on a leaking oil well, as well as pick up and retrieve pieces debris.

Augmented Reality Structured Light

● Materialized a recently patented technology, which reconstructs a 3-D object from a 2-D image, into a commercialize product. Learned image processing.
● Developed a user-friendly UI on MATLAB for this new technology (using GUIDE).
● Ported the developed MATLAB code to C++, allowing access on Android devices.

FPGA Game

Mimicking the shoot-ship arcade game using Altera DE0 development kit and a LED matrix.

Facial Recognition

Created using the Discrete Cosine Transform and k-nearest Neighbor classifier for Digital Signal Processing class.

Bike Shop - A Java Application

• Designed and coded, from scratch, a Bike Shop application that allows users to rent bike and accessories.
• Implemented polymorphic collections, interfaces, abstract classes, error handling methods and Java GUI.
• Utilized Java Lambda Expression to implement a Products Filter.
• Documented the project using UML Diagram and Sequence Diagram.

Fire Emblem Game v.1

Worked in team of 4 on re-creating a player vs. player and player vs. AI version of the prominent game franchise known as Fire Emblem. 

Software Engineering Intern

Interned in “Risk Management System” Program at FPT Group (No. 1 in the field of system integration, IT services, online advertising and distribution of technology products in Vietnam).

• • Built a Student Management website using Servlet & JSP on Eclipse, and using MySQL for databases.
• • Gained knowledge in various Java frameworks, such as Struts 2 and Ext JS.
• • Participated on a team that aided in the development and evaluation of a running Tax Revenue project.

Memristor Hardware Emulator

● Constructed an emulator that would be able to model the characteristics of a memristor.
● Included thresholding and most importantly, a pinched hysteresis VI curve.
● Simiulations done in Multisim, and Cadance for proof of concept

Full Stack Java Developer

• Developed a responsive Web application that automate water quality collectors/managers/supervisors’ daily task, which involve collecting and managing 6000 bacteria samples per month.
• Computerized processes like: report, schedule routine, enter field results, monitor sample status, monthly progress.
• Used PostgreSQL for databases, Chrome DevTools for debugging, and STS. Wrote test cases.
• Collaborated between different Agile teams to effectively finish sprints on time.

Road and Pothole Recognition

Pothole and cracks detection is critical in the process of maintaining and preserving roads and highways. This project focus on using Convolution Neural Networks (CNN) in road and pothole recognition. The constructed model achieved a 93% of accuracy (for testing dataset) on detecting just potholes, and 77% of accuracy (also for testing dataset) on differentiating between potholes, cracks, and good road.

Alzheimer's Disease Early Diagnosis

● Early and accurate diagnosis of Alzheimer’s diseaseis still an unsolved problem. This research applied machine learning on a non-evasive, early diagnostic tool called "Clock Drawing Test", which assess a patients level of cognitiveimpairment and help practitioners diagnose Alzheimer’s disease.
● Used three feature selection techniques to extractmost important features for a diagnosis: a genetic algorithm,a wrapper feature selection method, and a hierarchical archi-tecture feature selection algorithm.
● The selected features arethen used to train two different classifiers: a neural networkand a stacked generalization.
● Theresults indicate a differential diagnosis accuracy of high 70%to mid 80%are achievable.

Smart Picture Frame with Motion Detector

● Normal wooden photo frame converted into a digital photo frame
● Keep photos fresh by downloading them from Flickr
● Auto turn off when no motion is detected to save power
● Displays a random photo for a configurable 3 seconds.
